Fashion Industry is Ready to Take Responsibility

Hosted for the 11th time by Turkey Clothing Manufacturers’ Association, The Istanbul Fashion Conference will take place on 3-4 October with the participation of a large number of brands. With the “Responsible Fashion” concept, the pulse of the fashion industry will be kept.

The Istanbul Fashion Conference, which has been held since 2008, will bring together the important names of the sector-leading brands in Istanbul, which will be organized in Çırağan Palace. Participants, who will meet under the concept of “Responsible Fashion” will closely follow the trends of fashion. The TGSD will address the importance of sustainability to future generations, while also emphasizing the responsibility that should be taken by them.

The changes in Turkey, the past,present and the future, the transformation of the garment industry, sustainability, innovation, industry 4.0, garment and textile sector in economic conditions, new trends and the movements that guide global markets will be the conference’s main topics.The first session of the conference will start with the moderation of  Mavi Jeans CEO Cüneyt Yavuz after the opening speeches. After that,it will continue with the speeches of Craig Dana, Ralph Lauren Executive Vice President of Global Supply ,Alex Angelchik, the CEO of Newtimes,Bhavesh Naik, VF Corporation Senior Director of Product Innovation and Procurement of Napapiriji, and Julia Hughes, the chairman of the USA Fashion Industry Association, who is going to talk about Global Supply.The Woolmark Company United Kingdom and Turkey Country Director Nigel Gosse will introduce the natural, renewable and recyclable merino wool. The first speaker of the first session, Chairman and CEO Mike Fralix, will provide information on Robotics and Automation.

The second session of the day, Technology Session,  will continue under the moderation of Chairman and CEO Mike Fralix, and then Glengo Marketing Coordinator Cenk Levin Gurcan will convey the importance of digitalization. 3D Modeling will be described by Leslie Riley, who is Polytropon Automation Systems Company Owner and CEO.Soon after Avery Dennison Vice President and general manager of Global RFID, Francisco Melo’s speech, the first half of the day will be over with the speech of Marsha Powell,Cotton Council Int. Turkey Program Director, who is going to assess the perspectives on world cotton market.

In the second half of the day, Purpose Substainable Ideas, with the moderation of Dilek Bil, the future of fashion will be redesigned and it will be followed by the cyclical economy transition part. Company Owner Cevdet Karahasanoglu, Levi Strauss & Co., Primark Ethical Trade and Sustainability Auditor Libby Annat, BCG Boston Consulting Group Company Partner and Managing Director Sebastian Boger, CO2 Logic Project Director Eric Dierckx, EURATEX European Apparel & Textile Confedaration Sustainable Business Director Mauro Scalia, the fashion session is going to be started.The last session of the day will start with the moderation of fashion designer Mehtap Elaidi, one of the successful names in the fashion industry. Gamze Saraçoğlu, Özlem Kaya and Özgür Mansur, who are fashion designers who have given their signatures to many successful designs, and have guided the world of fashion, will have a pleasant conversation on managing the process efficiently in company-designer associations.

On the second day of the conference, new business associations will be signed with bilateral business talks (B2B) supported by the Ministry of Commerce.
