Aygen Vural, board member of Glengo Technologies Company, which is known for the most comprehensive pattern development program in the textile sector, answered our questions about the sector.
- When and with what purpose was Glengo Technology founded?
Glengo Technology Inc. was founded in Istanbul in 1985 by my uncle Mazhar Yurdakul Vural and father Mehmet Aykut Vural. When they first started this job, my uncle was a textile engineer and my father was a metallurgy engineer.During that time, my uncle and my father got the agency of Gerber Technology. This is a very important turning point in reaching the point of our company’s current state.Then my uncle died at a young age and my father continued his path alone in the company.
- What kind of activities does Glengo Technology have?
Glengo is a technology company that has from the model room to the exit of the cut product, mold design programs, paving machines, robot cutters. Gerber Technology has 39 different cutting systems according to the needs of the companies. We are able to offer products in industrial area as well as apparel.
Our company’s products are mainly used in garment market at first, but also demanded from automotive, composite, aviation, furniture, membrane structure, home textile sector for many years thanks to developing technology and market.
We have received the representative of Veith company in Germany which is the only one in the world with needle table and stripe fabric line in the direction of demands from developing markets and our customers in 2005 and we think that we have provided a solution to the shortage in this area. 
- What kind of advantages do Gerber Products offer to its customers?
Our products speed up the workflow of our customers. It increases quality. You can do most of the work done through automation quickly and smoothly. You can cut your samples, cardboard patterns with the machine.
This makes your body series smoother. When our customers start using this kind of automation, they can introduce their products in a wider frame. When our customers begin to use this kind of automation, they can introduce their products in a wider frame. For instance, while you were a small company, by using these automation systems, you can expand your export possibilities.
We have a large number of large customers that we are able to observe all our growth processes. From the very beginning,we have had customers that we supply, who employ thousands of people. For sure, we are proud of that.
- Do you think you are in the right place at the moment? What are the future goals of Glengo Technology?
Our company aims to increase quality in production by using automation in Turkish industry and apparel industry. We have made this valuable automation system the most productive and useful for our customers and we continue to develop it. Gerber today have an automation system that has seventy percent market dominance.Gerber is the technology partner of world-class companies like Microsoft, Intel, and adapts its infrastructure to the latest technology in the fastest way.
- As Glengo Technology, would you please talk about your social responsibility projects?
We value education very much. Our mold designs are used in many professional and technical Anatolian high schools and in the textile engineering of various universities, in ready-made clothing sections, in special modeling schools like Faruk Sarac IMA.
Gerber uses 100 separate programs in educational institutions in Turkey. At the same time, we provide support for employment. We are bringing together companies that are looking for jobs with modeling workers.
- How did Turkey’s current economy affect the current state of the Glengo company?
Glengo Technology is a 33-year old establishment and has had many important experiences in the industry. We provide a balance since there are many fields that we give services in Turkey. Our company has a solid knowledge and is pre-calculating how you can handle such situations.We take our steps by considering everything. Therefore, we have a strong position in the current economic difficulties and we try to protect it.
- Finally, do you have something that you might like to add?
In Turkey, apparel sector is a very well-learned sector.We have many experts in this field. I see this sector as an important field for Turkey. Work in this sector should continue and many Turkish brands should take their place in the world market.
