Spinning - Yarn
KARL MAYER's new MULTIGUARD thread monitor gives advance warning in case of thread breakage. Modern sensor technology and data processing systems can be used to control all the important processing parameters and also to implement a wide range of optimisation measures. The production sequences can be optimised, as well as entire value-added chains. The efficient monitoring of yarn tension and feed during warp preparation can increase weaving efficiency by up to 5 %. The new MULTIGUARD stop motion from KARL MAYER can make an important contribution here. This innovative system gives a warning in the event of yarn breakages or tension peaks, and generates parameters that can be used for internal production data management as well as external quality assurances within the framework of a qua...

Aramid Fiber Yarns Reduces Weight

Technical Textiles
KARL MAYER set up a far-reaching development project, entitled “COP MAX 5 Aramid”, for processing high-performance fibres on multiaxial warp knitting machines. Aramid fibre yarns are now widely used in technical applications. They are used in composites, for example, in hard ballistic systems, lightweight transport containers and laminated, high-performance sails, but they are also used in protective textiles – usually in woven textiles – for clothing. Compared to glass and carbon fibres that are also used, the specific characteristics of aramid yarns give them advantages that can be used in a wide variety of applications – but these come at a price. In particular, they have an exceptional impact resistance and energy absorption capacity. Unlike the versions made from carbon or glas

KARL MAYER’s textile innovations for the shoe sector For many years, KARL MAYER has been developing innovative shoe fabrics on its warp knitting machines. A wide variety of textiles, which are setting the trend on the market, can be produced on its high-speed tricot and double-bar raschel machines. The latest developments are aimed at reducing the number of processing steps in the production chain. Uppers manufactured from a single piece are nothing new. In the sports shoe sector in particular, textile designs, which reproduce the butterfly contours of the entire upper shoe area, are creating quite a stir. KARL MAYER has gone one step further with integrated production. This company uses its double-bar raschel technology to also incorporate the insole directly into the textile pr
